Community Selection (September 2006)
Communities are selected by the KH Design Advisory Board
Community Selection is based on criteria such as need to decrease blight, public accessibility, visibility, potential for impact in the community, number of at-risk youth, need for positive outlet for artists and youth of community and if community has graffiti problems in which murals help reduce or eliminate.
Preliminary Community Engagement (October-December 2006)
Preliminary personalized meetings with community youth organizations, property owners, stake holders, and political offices on mural subject matter, locations, themes, and style ideas and requests.
KH Design Director, Art Director, Education Director, and Project Manager begin research and design templates to incorporate unifying elements on all murals inspired by preliminary meetings with Community groups.
Call for Artists (January-Febuary 2007)
Call for Artists January 15,2007 via local galleries, e-mail blasts, local publications, and art organization recommendations. Artists receive information from KH Design on themes and ideas expressed by the Community organizations. Artists begin preliminary designs inspired by Community design ideas to be submitted by March 25, 2007 at 12 pm.
